A sudden, audible expulsion of air from the lungs through a partially closed glottis, preceded by inhalation.

  • Croup

Inflammation involving the glottis or vocal cords and the subglottic larynx.

  • E
  • Eosinophilic Granuloma

The most benign and common form of Langerhans-cell histiocytosis which involves localized nodular lesions predominantly of the bones but also of the gastric mucosa, small intestine, lungs, or skin, with infiltration by eosinophils

  • F
  • Farmer's Lung

A form of alveolitis or pneumonitis due to an acquired hypersensitivity to inhaled antigens associated with farm environment.

  • H
  • Hemoptysis

Expectoration or spitting of blood originating from any part of the respiratory tract, usually from hemorrhage in the lung parenchyma (pulmonary alveoli) and the bronchial arteries.

  • Hepatopulmonary Syndrome

A syndrome characterized by the clinical triad of advanced chronic liver disease, pulmonary vascular dilatations, and reduced arterial oxygenation (hypoxemia) in the absence of intrinsic cardiopulmonary disease.
